[PRESS: INTERVIEW] Julian Keller does GQ. :P
OOC: I WAS BORED ONE DAY. Also, There's going to be a Jono one as well--Iris and I are working on it, haha.

Julian Keller (codename: Hellion) lives in a hotel. To be specific, he lives in sixty-five stories worth of brick and immaculate furnishings located somewhere in the the Upper East Side of Manhattan. He is twenty-four, about ninety times over a millionaire ("I'm shooting for a billion this year," he informs me with a sly grin), a bachelor, a mutant, and a self-proclaimed hero (although no one's arguing). Not to mention, he's an Avenger and has been tied to Tony Stark's hip ever since he bought a spot on Stark Industries' Board of Directors in 2010. As for one more not-to-mention, his assistant looks like a Brazilian model. Move over Gisele.

What a life.

Dude, you're an Avenger.
[smirk] Yeah, I am. Do you always state the obvious?

I have to ask: what's it like?
The hours are brutal, but the chicks dig it.

There's go to be more to it than brutal hours and women.
I show up. I save the world. Shit happens. [pause] It's a higher calling. All part of being a hero. There's less glamor to it than most people think.

So you think you're a hero?
You ask Cap and he'll tell you he's not a hero. You ask me, and... yeah, I think I'm a hero on some days. I'm not so humble. I go out there to protect and save people. I don't just happen to bump into the Mole Man on the subway whenever he's looking to raise his dirty little blobs.

And the people you don't save?
Well, those are the days I don't feel like a hero.

The Pulse called you "Tony Stark's protégé" in May. You've been on his board of directors at Stark Industries for three years now. It's no secret you two are close. Do you feel like you're walking in his footsteps?
[laughter] What, to alcoholism? I'm kidding, really. I'm walking on my own, thanks. Tony and I are close and he's helped me out a lot, but I would have gotten here with or without him, and he knows it.

Before the fame, the hero-dom and the drop-dead gorgeous secretaries (and girlfriends), Julian Keller was born to two modestly paid parents in SoCal. After their mom-and-pop company went global around the time Julian turned ten, he knew he was special--and not just because they'd throw him birthday parties that set the bills back a good ten-thousand bucks.

"I got them around eleven," he says, lips quirked at the blue mist surrounding his hands. By 'them' he means his telekinesis and the activated X-gene in his DNA. "Then my parents shipped me off to the X-men and the rest is history."

Being a mutant these days is tough, but it's hard to imagine this one gets much slack for it.

How does it feel to be perhaps the most publically accepted mutant in America?
Like shit. I shouldn't be the only one.

You went to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, and you were an X-man until the property was destroyed by anti-mutant terrorists. Have you met with Charles Xavier since his return?
I met with him for the first time not too long ago, yeah.

You were at Genosha after the decimation. A FOX news anchor called it "a successful decimation do-over" and abstained from mentioning the Friends of Humanity as a suspect behind the attack. As a mutant, would you say--
I am a mutant, no matter what question you throw at me. Genosha was a tragedy and not just because thousands of innocent people lost their lives over some disgusting prejudice dogma. It's a tragedy because no one gives a shit that it happened at all.

With Xavier back, do you think this anti-mutant sentiment will lessen?
I hope it will.

Last question:
do you think you'll ever leave the Avengers if he forms another X-men team?

[that smirk again] Why couldn't I do both?
